ABOUT THE FOUNDATION

The mission of the Bente Kahan Foundation is to promote the idea of mutual respect and human rights, from the perspective of the tragic experience of European Jews during World War II.

The Bente Kahan Foundation, established in 2006 to restore the splendor of Jewish heritage, was responsible for the restoration of the White Stork Synagogue (2010), the shul/small synagogue (2015), the mikvah/ritual bath (2018) and the Education Center located in the synagogue’s basement. In addition, in 2017, FBK conducted archaeological excavations at the site of the New Synagogue, built in 1872 (destroyed during Kristallnacht on November 9, 1938).
